Make a gift

It means making a commitment today to stand with the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation

Donation: answers to your questions

  • In concrete terms, what is a donation?

Making a donation means giving one or several pieces of one’s property during one’s lifetime. If you have no legal heirs or you have their consent, a donation means you can pass on your property immediately and irrevocably. This legal act, which is a full commitment in every regard, must necessarily be carried out by your attorney - in France, a notaire.

  • What type of property may I give?

You may give real estate, a property, a shop, land, a wood, valuable furniture, works of art, collections, copyright, etc. The donation concerns all property for which a transfer of rights or ownership is necessary.

  • What are the different forms donations can take?

If you wish to give to the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation, there are two main ways of donating. The donation of unrestricted ownership makes it possible to give one’s property in an exclusive manner. Donation with bare ownership permits giving one’s property while retaining enjoyment for oneself or another of one’s choice until the end of their life.

  • In concrete terms I would like to give real estate to the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation, but I absolutely wish that a person of my choice may use it throughout their lifetime. Is it possible?

Of course. If you make a donation with bare ownership with a usufruct qualification for the person of your choice, they may fully benefit from your property until their decease.

  • If I make a donation to the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation, are there transfer duties?

There are no transfer duties, not for you or the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation, because it has been given the public interest status. In tenaciously working on behalf of those with genetic illnesses with intellectual disabilities, the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation provides invaluable service to our society.
