You are a research scientist and you work in fundamental or clinical research aimed to therapeutics for genetic diseases with mental deficiency (trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), Fragile X syndrome, cri du chat syndrome, rare chromosomal abnormalities, Rett, Williams Beuren, Willi Prader, Angelman syndromes, etc.).

The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune invites interested teams and researchers to submit fundamental or clinical research projects to its Scientific Committee (neurosciences, behaviour, genetics, molecular biology, therapeutics, adult or cord blood stem cells, etc.), aimed at leading to the discovery of treatments improving abilities of patients suffering from genetic diseases with mental deficiency, especially the trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). The Fondation also considers support for congresses or courses organization.

The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune implements everything to revive research on intellectual deficiency from genetic origin in favour of patients. The aim of this research is to manage to develop prevention and/or a treatment improving, and then normalizing the intellectual functions of the sick.

The finalization of such treatments may occur through two main ways: fundamental and clinical research.

Nowadays, none of these ways can be privileged: it is their synergy that enables therapeutic overhangs. Therefore, the Fondation Jérôme Lejeune has chosen to explore these two ways together, helped by its Scientific Board and by the Institut Jérôme Lejeune it has created. Today, the Institut Jérôme Lejeune is receiving almost 5000 patients in consultation. Created in 1996, the Fondation Jérôme Lejeune is now granting more than 100 projects worldwide, for a 2 million euros amount (please see all the granted projects).

The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune gets its resources only from private donations.

To obtain funding, simply fill in the funding application form . The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune Scientific Board will then study your application and will inform you of its decision. The Scientific Board meets twice a year to choose the applications to be funded.

GRANTS

The Fondation Jerome Lejeune invites interested teams and researchers to submit research projects to its Scientific Board (therapeutics, neurosciences, molecular biology, genetics, behaviour, etc.), aimed at leading to the discovery of treatments improving abilities of patients suffering from genetic diseases with mental deficiency appeared in childhood (constitutional), especially trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), autism excepted. Priority will be given to projects oriented towards therapeutics, which might obtain better funding.

The Fondation also considers support for congresses or courses organization.
