BioJel Biological Resource Centre

Headed by Professor André Megarbane, the BioJel Laboratory of the Jérôme Lejeune Institute makes available a bank of samples collected from patients and their families. This includes a collection of cells (primary and cell lines), DNA and plasma. Most of the samples come from patients followed medically by the Jérôme Lejeune Institute, but also from other patients.

Due to the small number of patients suffering from a genetic illness, bringing together the samples in a single biological resource centre represents a considerable saving of time in advancing research: first, the samples exist physically and are ready to be used; second, the administrative formalities (CPP, CNIL) have already been performed. The BioJel Biological Resource Centre intends to implement and develop partnerships in order to reach a better knowledge of genetic illnesses with mental disabilities, resulting in a better caring for patients.
